                Hi

For those who have no idea what the database Juan is talking about
              please go to

                http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExtensiveReading/database

It is a database of ER programs. Click the ER programs inventory
              button and add your data.

Wendy, I changed the database so members can edit it.

                All the best

                    Hi

For those who have no idea what the database Juan is talking about
                  please go to

                    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExtensiveReading/database

It is a database of ER programs. Click the ER programs inventory
                  button and add your data.

Wendy, I changed the database so members can edit it.

                    All the best

                    Rob

Yes absolutely. Just click  DATABASE once you are in
extensivereading YG. DATABASE  works just like POST, LINKS or FILES.

                        Cheers,

Juan, may I see your database?  It is so useful to know what
                  other people

have been doing and I'm a bit stuck on what to do next in my
                  context. It's

so useful NOT to have to keep re-inventing the wheel.

                          Kind regards

                      Hi

I'm not sure Wendy is quite right. let's be clear.

You do NOT need a yahoo address to get mail from the ER list.
You do not need a yahoo address to access the MAIN website address to read the mail or look at the homepage http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExtensiveReading/

But it seems you DO need a yahoo email address and password to access the features of the ER website such as the polls and database and to post messages online. I assume that's because yahoo want you to read their ads - a fair thing since we pay nothing for their services.

                      R

Yes you do, you need a yahoo password .... you would have had to do that to get in anyway.  The 'owner' of the site should be able to help if you've forgotten the passowrd though.  W :)

I'm not sure if you need to be a member but I just set it so ANYONE can add and edit, not just group members. This _may_ mean you don;t need a yahoo ID. Please try and report.

Thanks for that but I'm being really thick, I've been to the site and
tried to edit my table but when I go to 'edit table' it only let's me

For those who have no idea what the database Juan is talking about
                      please go to

                        http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExtensiveReading/database

It is a database of ER programs. Click the ER programs inventory
                      button and add your data.

Wendy, I changed the database so members can edit it.

                        All the best

Yes absolutely. Just click  DATABASE once you are in
extensivereading YG. DATABASE  works just like POST, LINKS or FILES.

                            Hi there

Sorry for putting my tuppence worth in but if Clive is getting the emails from this group then he absolutely must be a member, impossible otherwise or you've managed to perform a miracle.  I moderate the young learners sig yahoo site so I know a little about this.  Clive the easiest thing to do if you can't remember your password (and I only do because I use it everyday otherwise I'd have forgotten it long ago ...) is to re-apply to join again and pretend you aren't a member already, you don't have to use a yahoo email address, you can use anyone you fancy (try and write your password somewhere safe or make it something easy to remember - HUGE APOLOGIES FOR SOUNDING LIKE A MUM).

This is happening to my members regularly - I just nip in and delete whatever email address they don't want to use.  Alternatively, Rob (as the moderator?) could pop in and 'invite' you again and pretend you aren't already a member, that works too.

Sorry if you know all this already.

                            Regards
                            Wendy

                            Clive,

It means you are not a member of YAHOO. To access the features of the database you must be a YAHOO member, AND a member of the ER list. If you are a Yahoo member enter your account info and it will allow you to access it.

                            Rob

Juan I'd be really interested in seeing the range of task sheets you have (primary).  Presumably they are generic ones and you haven't slaved away for each and every book?  I'd like to compare them to the ones I'm using at primary level because I'd like to improve mine. I'm more than willing to share what I've done too!

                                  Many thanks

Thanks to Rob, Wendy and Tom for responding to my call to attempt to construct an inventory of ER programs around the globe. I have added my second entry today.

It means you are not a member of YAHOO. To access the features of the database you must be a YAHOO member, AND a member of the ER list. If you are a Yahoo member enter your account info and it will allow you to access it.

There isn't much can share at the moment. I use one and same worksheet for all books. We are however working on three others that are trying this term. I 'll put them up in Files when we´re done.
                                      Cheers,

Juan I'd be really interested in seeing the range of task sheets you have (primary).  Presumably they are generic ones and you haven't slaved away for each and every book?  I'd like to compare them to the ones I'm using at primary level because I'd like to improve mine. I'm more than willing to share what I've done too!

It means you are not a member of YAHOO. To access the features of the database you must be a YAHOO member, AND a member of the ER list. If you are a Yahoo member enter your account info and it will allow you to access it.

                                        Hello Wendy

Whether you "sound like a mum" or not, I definitely need someone to
mother me. I could use some help with signing up on the internet or
installing software too! Do you really think I've performed a miracle?
If so, that would make my day. I hate to be defeated by a piece of
software. That, of course, is my problem. Being of "un certain age" I
regularly catch myself yearning for the good old days when we didn't
need *£@-!?^%* passwords (or computers? - but perhaps that would be
                                        overdoing the nostalgia trip).

So, no need to apologize for sounding like a mum. Before long, I might
find myself apologizing for looking for excuses to be mothered. And by
the way, as we applied linguists love to say - in response to your
"sorry if you know this already" - it all depends what you mean by
"know". Yes, I do know it - but only in theory (cognitively).
                                        Emotionally I haven't accepted it.

But I feel an attack of hobby-horsing coming on, so I'd better stop. If
I ever manage to get fully (re)inducted into this illustrious group via
the mysterious secret society known as Yahoo, I'll let you all know. If
not, any solicitous mothering will be gratefully accepted.

                                        Clive

OK here is what I suggest ... the group owner (who is probably gnashing
his/her teeth at me being so presumptious) should be able to track down your
original password, I think they have access to this through the management
side of the link. But in order to skip all that apply again using a
password you can remember and hey presto. You need the password if you want
to trail around in ether and look up threads/past messages. I don't think
the Moderator can do this unless the original Group Owner (who might also be
the Moderator) did something to the settings.

If you're happy not to, the very fact that you are getting this message
means you are still in the system, then leave it as it is ...

                                          Hope that works. W :)

                                            Clive,

Your probelm as I said is not that you are a member of the  ER group. You must be because you are getting these mails. The problem is that you must tie your lovelock@...-gu.ac.jp
                                             to a YAHOO address.

                                            1. Please open a yahoo account and remember the password. IMPORTANT. Yahoo asks that you put in a second yahoo account to verify you are the owner.  Put in the lovelock@...-gu.ac.jp address.
                                            2. click on this link
                                            http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExtensiveReading/database
it will ask you to sign into your yahoo account
                                            3. sign in and it SHOULD be okay.

                                            If not

                                            4. It will then say that you are not a member of the er group.
                                            5. Then click the find your membership link
                                            6. add your address lovelock@...-gu.ac.jp and it will link the yahoo account with this one. That will allow you to access the database.

                                            I hope

                                            R
