Group Description

Once an alcoholic - always an alcoholic. Ask AA. One day at a time. Right? But didn't alcoholics ALL make a decision to drink at some point. Ask most & they'll tell you about their first time. They remember exactly when they began.
Cause & Effect. Sowing & Reaping.
Most ex-gay ministries speak about homosexuality as if it's on par with alcoholism. Then they begin a (pick a #) step treatment program. And the results? Dismal. But should it surprise anyone if you model a program after one that teaches "Once an addict ... always an addict", - that you'll be forever counseling 'addicts'?
Is there another way to look at this issue; -- Perhaps a way that doesn't compare it to addiction?
Bluntly: Yes.
God wired people for sexual feelings. He did not wire them for drug addiction cravings. Comparing the 2 is not only unwise - but unethical.
Misquoting Scripture to make a point is also unethical.
Mistranslating Scripture is unethical.
Using vague definitions to give the general public an impression that is confusing - is unethical.
Lying about your feelings is unethical.
Giving testimony about someone's "success" is unwise, for "nobody knows the heart of a man - except the spirit within him."
Those who have been through many ex-gay programs have suspected for a long time that there was a problem with most. The ample evidence conscienciously considered leads the impartial observer to a lone conclusion: Most (if not all) traditional ex-gay ministries are: UNETHICAL
You're not the problem. "THEY" are the problem.
The reason they are the problem is because they deny the power of the gospel - just like the Apostles warned about. Sure - they quote from the Bible, but they MISquote the actual Scripture! Their doctrine lacks harmony with the theme of the New Testament; -- & w. the legal principles of the Old.
God has given a solid answer.
It will astonish you.
Are you ready to see it?
You can't unlearn it!
