Group Description

Welcome, Bonvenon, to the New Esperanto: the revitalized, growing Esperanto of the 21st century Internet.

Esperanto is an easily-learned yet fully expressive language for global person-to-person friendship and for empowering each one of us to begin building a sustainable and peaceful Earth Community. Esperanto estas facile lernebla tamen plene esprim-pova lingvo por tutmonda person-al-persona amikeco kaj por ekenpovigi ĉiun personon helpi konstrui daŭripovan kaj pacan Ter-Komunumon.

If you are interested in creative action for a sustainable future, and if you are a teacher or student of English, other languages, or of communication psychology in general, we are a group for you.

Our aims are to help you:

• Gain acquaintance with and enthusiasm for the concepts and global social ethics and spirituality behind Esperanto;

• Begin to acquire Esperanto itself;

• Learn how to navigate Esperanto's growing worldwide network and how to gain from it and add to it for immediate practical and cultural benefits;

• Systematically and accurately inform others about the revitalization of Esperanto, its ability to facilitate the learning of English and Spanish, its possible roles in school curricula and homeschooling, and its ability to help all of us work together as a global eco-community.

We meet every Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at the Esperanto and Earth Community Resource Center, 4506 SE Belmont, Portland, Oregon, USA to improve our Esperanto, learn new websites, and to collectively translate current short articles of significant intellectual and global interest.

We also post at “Portland Friends of the New Esperanto" on Facebook and Meetup.com.

Esperanto is a very rewarding but still vastly underutilized means of building your own friendship network and for combating the spirit of inequality and injustice. Come join us! You will not be disappointed.
