Re: [Escape_from_the_Fellowship] Re: What I do
[I wanna ask a serious question , Les, I would like to hear your opinion on this if you dont mind sharing please. When you guys were growing up, how much sex did you see on TV,hear on the radeo, etc? Then think about your grandparents or even yor parents and ask the same question. How many porn books were out on the shelves back in the 30/40's? I know you guys dont know this but thinking about your mum or dad or grandparents, I am interested.]
Since you named me. First the communist relinquish everything connected to religion, that is included religious morals. They were big fans of "free sex", but soon found out, that society would not work like that. So, they introduced "socialist workers morals". Restored the function of the family as the smallest social unit, on which the country is built. Renamed the Christian holidays, like Christmas became the festivity of "family love".
As for nudity and sex on TV and movie, there were quite a bit of it. You see, Hungarian communist cinema was not that great, so to attract people, they did throw in a bit of nudity and sex. Most of the time it had nothing to do with the storyline of the movie.
Abortion was legal, with a small family-planing panel approval. They try to talk people out of abortion, but they always approved it if the girl insisted on it.
It is true that not much porno was around, but it was more due to the state of the technology, than anything else. In uni, I was belong to the uni's photo club and took nude pictures of girls, of course for artistic reasons. ;-)}}
Well my son is much more of a puritan than I was, at least according to what I know about him

[Denis tell me what are you talking about???]
[Denis used the word "emotion" several times in various contexts, and perhaps that is the point of confusion.]
The use of the word "emotion" is unavoidable, because the "bond" between mother and child is emotional.
Emotions are created in the brain triggered by external and internal stimuli. For example fear. The brain, by pattern matching, perceives danger and gets the body ready to deal with it. The brain triggers the production of adrenalin and cortisol ..etc. These hormones prepare the body for a fight or flight. Heart-rate, blood-pressure goes up (adrenalin). Airways open up (adrenalin). Blood clothing agent increases in the blood (cortisol), ready to deal with injury, Sweating increases, to cool the body ..etc.
Notice, fear is triggered by the brain, then the chemicals and hormones being produced. Not the reverse! The feeling produced the increase of the hormones in the body. Hormones are messengers to different organs and tissues to make them do something. The triggers are sensory, e.g. vision, tactile ..etc. Like in the example I sent in my previous post, the tactile simulating of the breasts caused the oxytocin levels to rise.
Oxytocin is a feel good hormone. It makes you feel good. It seems to counteract cortisol, which is a feel bad hormone. That is why sex is good to relieve stress. :-)}} Have you noticed that almost all women like to hold a baby. It gives them a good feeling as oxytocin is released in their body.
In an office when one of the ladies takes her new born baby to show them, the other women almost fighting over who is going to hold the baby.
Why I bring these up, to show that these hormones and chemicals changes in the body is governed by the brain in response to sensory signals. That is by feelings, emotions. Now in every control system you need feedback. This feedback tells the system how much chemicals, hormones are released. It is done by autoreceptors ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoreceptor ) on the nerve cells. Each chemical, hormone has its own receptor. If there are more receptor on the nerve cells, less chemicals, hormones are release than as if the nerve cells have less autoreceptors. How many autoreceptors a nerve cell has, it determined by genetics. This is why we have great variation of amount of chemicals, hormones in people.
To summaries this: Chemical, hormonal changes in the brain/body are generated in response to stimuli, which can be external. The amount of chemicals, hormones in the body does not linearly correlate to the intensity of the feelings, emotions.
Conclusion: A non-biological mother can feel the same way as a biological one!
[From my perspective Denis is saying that based on research that has been done on pregnant women a woman who is pregnant undergoes changes in brain patterns during pregnancy that result in a much deeper bonding with their child than is attainable by other means, i.e., adoption.]
There is a great variation of degree of bonding in biological mothers! This indicates that these changes are not unique or only unique to a sub group of biological mother. Denis also stated that this (sic) chemical change also present in the soon to be father. This make it even less unique!
[There are cases where women have not loved their natural offspring as this research indicates they should.]
Exactly! This shows that the feelings, emotions are not tightly connected to these changes.
[However, these would be the exception, not the rule, and presumably there would be other factors that canceled the natural bonding that would normally be there. Comparing someone's love for adopted children, or pets, to these exceptions would be misleading.]
We are not talking about averages here! We are talking about; can a non-biological mother love her child as a biological one? The answer is clear. Yes she CAN!
[Also, there would most likely be a huge difference in the ability of a woman to bond with an adopted child depending on whether or not the woman had previously had children through natural means.]
Again we are not talking about averages! But do not forget, there is a filter here. An adopting mother want a child, a biological mother not always!
[Unfortunately, the report Denis is referring to is something that you need special permission to read, or access, without paying a substantial fee.]
All I asked Denis to give me is reference of the study like "Report of the CSM expert working group on the safety of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants" MHRA 2004-12-01. Retrieved on 2007-09-25." I am sure it does not cost anything or restricted copy right to reveal the title, the institution and the date of the publication.
[Again, based on the evidence that has been obtained on this subject through research, pregnant women much more deeply bond with their natural offspring, due to changes that take place in brain patterns during pregnancy, than other people do to adopted children and pets.]
What research??? Is the research like that possible??? How was it done???
[My own opinion is that nature causes human parents to bond with their children, in part, to keep the parents from strangling them when they become teenagers.]
As I said in the first place, you are starting out from your feelings!!!
