      JOB DESCRIPTION
      OBJECTIVE To assist and support the board of directors in realizing its
      goals. Foremost of these is educating the public of the importance of land
      use practices which mandate the use of trees as a high priority component of
      the infrastructure. This is accomplished through education, advocacy and a
      tree planting program.
      OFFICE OPERATIONS
      a. Direct office business and maintain accurate records.
      b. Direct financial and accounting functions.
      c. Direct contributor files, correspondence and reporting.
      d. With President and staff develop meeting agendas and an annual board
      calendar.

      COMMUNITY Advocacy:
      a. Work with board to identify issues and establish strategy and
      advocacy position.
      b. Attend public meetings* and meetings of other organizations when
      appropriate.
      c. Be informed of issues affecting trees and report to board.
      d. Develop cordial working relationship with the media.
      e. Be prepared to speak on behalf of the STF in public forums and
      scheduling speaking events.
      f. Write the annual fund raising appeal letter and the spring
      newsletter.
      Education:
      a. Develop and expand the education program to support the STF
      objectives.
      b. Organize workshops, school programs, seminars.
      Tree Plantings: (This is a major project and contribution to this
      community. 500 trees have been planted in the past five years. Government
      agencies, businesses and large volunteer groups are involved).
      a. Direct and coordinate all details of the tree planting program.
      b. Write the press releases to assure good publicity.

      *MPC, City Council, County Commission, Savannah Utilities Coordinating
      Committee, neighborhood groups etc.
      QUALIFICATIONS
      a. BA or BS degree.
      b. Strong writing skills.
      c. Strong administrative and communications skills. Ability to write
      grants as needed.
