Group Description

Do you find yourself wishing you knew the best way to say something in English? Do you suspect that you are actually "practicing and repeating" mistakes because your friends accept the way you speak English? Do you ever wish there were a place to "go" where you could ALWAYS have your mistakes corrected?
Then EngFor is the place for you! Here at EngFor you may depend that we will correct your mistakes! We hope that you will participate in other groups or have friends who let you make mistakes freely so that you will practice your English without fear.
At EngFor we provide a different sort of service. Our goal is to assure you that a mistake will not go by unnoticed. Therefore, if you see something here that isn't corrected, you can trust that it is ok to say it that way.
We native English speakers won't always agree on "correctness". We will give our opinions and let you make your own decisions.
And we will make mistakes. So we encourage learners to ALWAYS question us and to never accept what a native speaker says as definitely correct.
Please do not mistake the correcting of mistakes as criticism and do not ever take it personally. We encourage you to write and make mistakes boldly. It is the only way to learn. Remember that most of us have learned a second language so we know what it's like.
We make two different kinds of corrections: grammar and style. Style corrections are subjective, since each of us responds to stylistic questions in different ways.
If you are a non-native speaker of English, and your question triggers a discussion about style, then please take a moment to congratulate yourself! Your English is very advanced! But please, also realize that there is no agreement among native English speakers on many of these questions. Feel free to take our advice or to ignore it.
Please don't feel like your English must be at a certain level before you can participate. We welcome all learners.

Feel at home!

WELCOME from a team of native English speakers.
