Alesone Grey has done some pretty extensive research. She's a modern pastry chef, and she donated a whole darn FLAT of baklava to the Known World Auction this past summer (it went for like, $60 for 30 pieces and smelled like it would be worth EVERY penny...)

She says the IDEA is period, but the recipe is hard to nail down in period....
