Another Inside/Outside View of ECKankar
- You make good points.
When I joined Eckankar I wanted to learn out-of-body travel. I thought it would help me to know myself and to master my lower nature and that a Master would be available to teach me, personally.
Now I see it as a "new age, organized religion" and yet, I realize there are realities that I am not cognizant of. Be that as it is, I am tired of trying to make myself "fit-in" to a structure that ain't me. There were so many ways that they could of gone if all they wanted was to share the HU song. Just because people, (what people I don't know) are "comfortable" in a religous setting, eckankar decided to go mainstream, as-if?! Awakening isn't a comfortable process just as giving birth isn't. Though it is the only Real thing to do with one's time on this planet.
I think actual awakened people would scoff at the threats in the shariyat about loss of initiations (beingness). This is a point that I am proud to say I actually have found the intestinal fortitude to look at somewhat objectively. If you work on yourself and you gain a certain beingness, then it's yours. It becomes who you are and no-one can actually take it from you. However, a magician can hypnotize you into thinking you are not who you actually are.
Are people suggestible? Does the Eck leadership realize this? You bet your bippy they do. Always invoking the LEM and trancing out with the HU pulls people in.
That's it for me for now,
I am one of those who after many years realized that something ain't right in the land of OZ. And found my voice.
