The Dodgers need to throw open their gates and get their customers onto the lot as fast as possible, and have all the busyness, the partying, and the mess play

The Dodgers need to throw open their gates and get their customers onto the lot as fast as possible, and have all the busyness, the partying, and the mess play out on their property, which would greatly minimize the mess and congestion on the streets of Echo Park and Elysian Park.

They should have people pay for parking once they're parked, or as they leave, the way that thousands of malls do it all over America. Imagine if the Americana, or the Grove, or the Beverly Center made their customers line up for blocks, tying up traffic and clogging the surrounding neighborhoods, waiting to pay for parking before they entered.

Actually, we're making the naive mistake of thinking they'll take the socially responsible solution and be a good neighbor. Truth is, they're just externalizing their costs like any big corporation, and the city is probably letting them get away with it because they're an 800-lb gorilla who pays a lot more taxes than the average Echo Park resident. And they've probably made generous contributions to certain political campaign war chests as well (but that's just wild speculation on my part….)
