      begins. they planted a new Pistachia chinensis--Chinese Pistache--by the bus stop on Echo Park at Sunset, to replace the one that died, and they also planted one near the bus stop on Sunset in front of Walgreens. these will be the new street trees on Sunset. they are deciduous. no flowers, but they are noted for their fall color. you can see older ones on Alvarado south of the post office. and, no, they don't produce pistachios--that's a cousin tree.
