James, when I built my Sealion, I used loctite 648 for all 8 valve seats and also for the 4 liners. It has similar strength properties to 601 retainer (this is

I have used 620 and 609 based on how loose the fit is. Both did well with heat I prefer to make guides in phosphorous bronze and valves in stainless steel Also

I had the same thought a few years ago and contacted Loctite they recommended 620, which is a high temp locker. Worked OK for me.
