About Group
Group Description
Having a pantry-filled with items for those "just in case" situations is comforting. You don't have to prepare for the end of the world as we know it. Your emergency pantry can be for lots of reasons ... economic reasons, natural disasters, biohazards, terrorism, etc.
A filled pantry can also help fend off those budget-busting runs to the grocery store when you go for one or two items and come back with 10 or 20.
But a filled pantry isn't enough. You need to know what to do with your pantry items once you have them.
My motto is the tried and true "store what you use and use what you store." While I do have some of the typical emergency supplies on hand, such as powdered eggs, the remaining items that I'm storing are either homemade or from the grocery.
The other idea this list will enforce is that you may not be able to depend on a freezer, refrigerator, or fresh produce either because travel is restricted or due to interruption in the power supply in your area ... which for some people happens frequently even when there isn't an emergency situation.
Group members will be moderated until you've established a track record of no-spam and on-topic posts.
The group is mostly for supporting each other with our emergency food storage issues, sharing food storage recipes, and on occasion alternative cooking methods.
