Re: No checks at troll
- *Two good ideas scanned from this list. Bold, underline text is my addition.
1-For example, could the Exchequer keep a list of people who bounced (and
didn't later readily cover) a check? Two strikes and your name gets on a
list that's made available to the Trolls of upcoming events, maybe even to
Circulate this list of bounced checks privately to all local and regional
exchequers. The two strikes may be at events in different locations, such as
Bhakail and Settmour Swamp. This way, if such a person goes to a third
event, the exchequer or the troll has adequate information to choose whether
to accept a check from them or not.????
2-Collect ID from people who want to use checks, names, addresses & phone
Accept only checks that have preprinted addresses??? Most checks now come
that way. The only ones of which I am aware that do not are the first checks
on a new account.

or as complicated as necessary. The range runs from taking any
check from anybody at any time, to accepting checks with
preprinted addresses, to taking checks with preprinted addresses
that match some other form of ID, to subscribing to a check
verification service, to just not taking checks. It should all be a
matter of the sponsoring group's evaluation of their potential "bad
Personally, I've always accepted checks at events. Formal policy
for my troll staff should probably have required preprinted
addresses unlees I gave my my personal approval. But our event
experience has never encouraged me to impose any further
restrictions than that.
Of course, heaven help anyone who dumps a bad check on my
group and doesn't amke good on it in a timely fashion... ;)
