Well, it's been almost a month since River Wars IV and now that dust has settled and the most of us have recovered, I would like to take the time to give you the post game rap up and thank you for your support.
This year's war by almost all accounts was a successful one. We had 95 campers, 249 day trippers, and 43 children attend the event for a total of 387 people. The feast was sold out with 73 gentles showing up for dinner. Their Majesties and Their Highness thought the feast was very tasty and fun. The fighters and the fencers were exhausted by the end of the day. We ran successful Archery Champions, and A&S Champions. I know there are some things that could have gone better, but we can save that for this month's Barony meeting.
This year's event was truly a group effort and could not have gone as well as it did without the help from our event veterans and some new blood. There are so many of you who help, I apologize now for any of you who I miss.
First and foremost, I need to thank my right hand man, Lord Sterling. The event could not have happened without his help and experience. I want to thank Lady Katya for a fantastic feast and for feeding the campers. I big thank you to Mistress Katherine, Master Dietrich, Lord Owen, Lady Cait, Lord Mathias, Lady Diane, Katie, Diana, Lord Bran, and his Lady working in the kitchen and for serving the tables. To Lord Declan, you are fine herald and you know how to roll with the punches.
Once again, Lady Molly was incredibly organized and ran an efficient Troll. Lady Valerie did an outstanding job gathering photos and relics from our barony's past to put on display. Lady Aibhilin 's children's activities were a great success. I want thank those you who worked so hard behind the scenes getting things ready for the event, Lady Creature, and her husband "We call him Tim", Master Duncan, Master Icabob, Lord Edward, and Lord Lucas. Lady Saikhan's webpage was a perfect way for everyone to get information about the event.
A huge thank you to the out of Barony volunteers, Her Excellency Ysmay, Lady Suba, Lady Jadwiga and Lady Shoshanna. You all stepped up for the not so glamorous jobs of help cleaning up the mess.
On a personal note, I want to thank Their Excellencies Collin and Marion. First for convincing me to put in a bid to run River Wars. Second, for the clean kill of me in their Court. I really had no idea you were going to recognize my 25 years as a Peer. Lady Creature's Scroll is beautiful. And, that really was dust in my eyes. ;-)
It has been a great pleasure to autocrat the 30th Anniversary of the greatest Barony of the Known World.
Yours in Service,
