Barry O'Brien, 38 of Stonetown in Dundalk, is charged with membership of an illegal organisation and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The father-of-five was arrested by officers earlier this month.

The court heard that he was out on bail for another offence at the time.

O'Brien was remanded in custody to appear in court again in November.
