      Subject:            Tropical Storm Hanna

       

      The following is the latest storm information issued by the New Jersey Sate Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

       

      A Tropical storm warning has been issued for the entire state of New Jersey.   The previous rain fall totals have been reduced by ¾” to 1”.  That will bring the possible rainfall totals to 3” to 5”.  The wind threat has been reduced to a maximum of 30 mph.  Minor Flooding is still expected throughout our Region.  Hide Tide has past and should not be an issue.  In 3 -4 hours the center of the Hannah will be off of the coast.  The storm will be ending in our Region between 2300 and 2400 hours.

       

      The New Jersey State Office of Emergency Management opened and is operating at a Level 4 as of 0600 hours this morning.  The New Jersey Urban Search and Rescue Task Force shall be deploying 1 operational team in the North and 1 operational team in the south.

       

      The Essex County Office of Emergency Management opened their EOC @ 0900 hours this morning.  Essex OEM will remain operational thru the entire event and recovery period.   The Essex EOC will remain open until at least 2400 hours this evening.

       

      Any Municipality opening an EOC or declaring a State of Emergency must notify Essex OEM as soon as you make any decisions on them.

       

      Please monitor within your communities any events that may have tent operations in progress due to the wind from this storm.
