The Northeastern Nevada Historical Society and Museum is having a
membership drive this year in an effort to raise money and to bring
more people into the museum. When the Red Lion stopped their Casino
Express flights, attendance and revenue at the museum went way down.
The museum has a lot to offer our community, yet few people stop in to
take advantage of this valuable resource.
As homeschoolers, I am sure many of you are familiar with the museum
and it's many exhibits. You may also be aware that the museum does not
charge homeschoolers an admission fee and has free admission for all
on the last Sunday of the month. These are good things, but they do
not help support the museum financially.
My husband and I decided that this year, instead of making a donation
directly to the museum, we will offer to buy 4 family memberships to
give to friends in the homeschooling community. It is our hope that
these families would come to understand the value of museum membership
and renew, or possibly upgrade, their membership in the years to come.
We also hope that these folks would bring their friends to the museum
and their friends would be inspired to become members. In addition to
free admission, members also receive "The Quarterly", a publication
put out by the museum, highlighting different aspects of the area's
history. These 4 gift memberships will be on a first come, first
served, basis. Please email me directly if you are interested.

NNM is a valuable resource in our community and we, as homeschoolers,
should know that better than most people. So, we as homeschoolers,
should do our best to support it. I have posted below a schedule of
the various memberships, in case you are inspired to join on your own!
