Reminder: Pioneer Dance This Saturday!
- Hi Homeschoolers!
Just a reminder that this Saturday is the dance at the California Trail Center. In case you missed it the first time, here is the letter sent by Gary Koy telling all about it. My band, Southwind will be providing the music and Rob Snow, from Salt Lake City will be teaching and calling the dances.
See you there!

Live music will be provided by South Wind. Dance caller Rob Snow will teach young and old, couples and singles, the dances that the pioneers knew. It wasn't all drudgery on the California Trail. Come and celebrate like the emigrants did. Learn old time American dances like the Virginia Reel, cotillions, and round dances.
Consider the Old Time Family Fun Dance at the California Trail Center on Saturday February 20 at 7:00 PM
As the overland emigrants pushed on to California in the mid 1800's lured by stories of gold and rich farm land, thoughts of the success and happiness that awaited them in the "golden land" were never far from their thoughts. It is little wonder, then, that the trail camps between the Missouri and the Sierra saw many impromptu celebrations and dances. In 1852 Carolyn Richardson wrote in her trail diary, "Found a fiddler and got together enough people for two cotillions and danced till eleven!" So bring your Valentines of whatever age and join in the fun.
