I need advice on exercise 4, Change Over Time. What does it mean by
mechanisms involved in changes over time? I have read some NSTA
recommends such as Pathways, Teaching About Evolution and the Nature of
Science, and Evolution in Perspective. Some of the books mention
evolution subthemes: direction, constraints, and chance. Do these need
to be mentioned when addressing the prompt? Do I need to address how I
would teach the concept that is changing over time? Any advice on this
      exercise would greatly be appreciated.

Also, regarding this Exercise 4 content, another candidate
thinks that the three major sciences that may be addressed
are life sciences, physical sciences, and earth/space
science after I suggested that traditionally the big three
sciences are thought of as: biology, chemistry, and physics.

So whad'ya think? What does it mean by "mechanisms involved
in changes over time" and what are the "three major
        sciences?"

        Thanks,

Seems to me I remeber reading somewhere that the "Big three" were Life, Earth and Physical science.  An example from each might be cell reproduction, erosion, and a pendulum swinging.  I don't think I can discuss too much more detailed than this.

Subject: Re: [EASCI] Exercise #4 - Change Over Time

Seems to me I remeber reading somewhere that the "Big three" were Life, Earth and Physical science.  An example from each might be cell reproduction, erosion, and a pendulum swinging.  I don't think I can discuss too much more detailed than this.

What does it mean by "mechanisms involved
in changes over time" and what are the "three major
            sciences?"

            Thanks,

I also think the big 3 sciences are life, physical (which includes chemistry),and Earth/Space. That is how they are broken up in the NSTA book.
