34RE: Digest Number 20
- Dec 1, 1999Hello! and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I am currently going through the process in the EA science certification
area in Maryland. I have written Entries 5&6 so far. I am beginning to
start Entry 1 next week - using a task on the Earth's moon-specifically
Tides. (I think the topic fits????) Students will be involved in some
reading materials, interpreting tidal charts, graphing tidal information
(and math calculations), making predictions, etc...The culminating activity
is to write a letter to our local county government as a persuasive piece.
All of the tasks involve both group, partner and individual work. I have
also been videotaping to get students used to the taping. ANy feedback or
suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks

Hopefully they will make some modifications so that the process will be
for those in the next year. If there is anyone out there who would like
correspond, or who would like some help with the certification, please
know. I am not an expert by any means, but if I can help so that
doesn't have to work in isolation, I would be glad to be of assistance.
Also, for those who were on this list serve last year - How did
you do? Do
you have any pointers for those who are out there now that you have your
