  • >I'd like ideas on getting appropriate light for reviewing the injuries. I have a Coleman lantern that is run on batteries and has more of a white light- something like that would make viewing the injuries easier than with a standard flashlight (for that matter, I think one of my flashlights is an LED one as well). I have to agree about not calling 911 for first degree burns and a...

  • I'm interested in the scenarios as well- I found my spring first aid course was a joke (i.e., the entire two-day class was pretty much 'make sure there aren't any dangers and then call 911'; I kid you not) and these are really valuable for people like me who rarely have a chance to practice their skills. • Some of the others who regularly deal with such things for a living will probably know a bit more about them than I do, but from what I've been told at work, it's much more likely that most of the newer AEDs are the kind where instructions are given about the process via the machine rather than those needing specialized training. Medb (who's workplace is responsible for funding...

  • I agree- I've been called over by someone only to be told by the injured person that I'm not needed. • I've had people specifically request the alcohol wipes (in one case, iodine). Anyone else having problems finding a suitable saline solution to carry with them? The only one I found is a glass container, so I keep a few alcohol wipes in case I'm in an area without water and don't have my larger kit with me. • "I do not believe that the Ealdormere Chirugeon's handbook is online anywhere at this time." We have a handbook? I didn't realize there actually was one kicking around. Medb

  • "Maybe it's time to come up with a structured action plan for Ealdormere events? (which of course, other Kingdoms could use if they so choose...) WOuldn't hurt to train folks on how to guide EMS into a remote site, for instance. If you haven't worked a Pennsic or Estrella you've probably never run into that one... TSivia" I agree, with the added suggestion that either an FAQ or...

  • Darn it! I thought it started at 12 and I've got a class scheduled. I'll try to bring over my food and then join you guys once the class is done. Medb If you're at War of the Trilliums over the Canada Day weekend, there will be a pot-luck Chirurgeon's Picnic on the Saturday, scheduled to start around 11 am. So if you make it, please drop by and introduce yourself. You'll get to...

  • There's a trial period for becoming warrented in the SCA, which is why none of the people in Eoforwic can do it yet. We certainly don't mind having more chirurgeons around though! :) Medb --- J Corso wrote: > I am hoping(providing I get a ride) to go but I am also newer to the > Chirurgeon ranks - I am a registered nurse in RL and I would be willing to > do the job but not sure if...
