      What: Yule Rotating Open Circle

      When: December 20, 2008 2:00 PM +

      Where: Willow & Lynda's house

Description: The Yule R.O.C. will be an overnight affair. There
will be a gathering of natural decorations for the Greening of the
House, the making of Yule Logs, and the decoration of the ritual
space. There will be social time throughout the afternoon. Contests
will be held for the HCC. The ritual WILL begin at 8pm. Feast will
follow ritual. Folks are welcome to stay overnight. A welcoming of
the Sun will be held to intersect the Solstice peak a little after
7a.m. with drums and chanting. There will be a tipi setup for the
      overnight.

      What to Bring:
Stones (roughly double fist sized or larger for the circle)
      Firewood
      Chairs
Sleeping Bags (if you are spending the night)
      Feast Gear
Potluck Items (Feast will be after 9pm so you might want to bring
      snacks if you needs them)
Drinks (don't count on someone else to bring some you will want to
drink, alocohol is o.k. but not before ritual and you are expected to
      drink responsibly and not excessively.)
Suitable Clothing (for switching from indoor to outdoor activities)
Drum, noise makers, favorite Yule songs & chants

Please either RSVP on the Meetup site or with Lynda
(ivorywitch@...) or Willow (Wizard3666@...) personally to
insure proper planning and space from their side ESPECIALLY if you
are planning on spending the night.

Yule R.O.C. Contests for House Cup Competition 2009

Yule is the time of Greatest Darkness and the Rebirth of the Light.
This is sometimes represented by the battle of the Oak and Holly
King, the Mummer's Dances and Fetes, the Nativity of the various and
sundry Solar Gods, and combining of the symbols of many of these
different traditions. Please remember that the judges will be
instructed that honoring (or even creating) Yule traditions should be
judged with higher points than honoring the commericial and standard
      Christmas fare.

      ---------------------------------------------

The first competition for the Yule R.O.C. will be The Yule Log
Contest. The Yule Log Contest will be voted on by all those in
attendance. The log may be assembled before hand or on site but must
be put in place before ritual on the night of the event. The Yule Log
      plus its decorations must be:

      1. Less than 3ft long and no more than 1ft in total height & width.
      2. Burnable - the winner will be burned at the event.
      3. As NATURAL as possible, plastic is not welcome.
      4. Only one entry per house member attending.

There will be 5pts awarded for the best Yule Log and the House will
also get the individual votes counted toward their total scores.

      ---------------------------------------------

The second competition will be a Feast-based Contest. The contest
will be voted on by one representative from each of the fours Houses
and Thorne will break any ties. Entries must be available for tasting
before ritual begins, must have a card saying which type of entry
they are, and must include a recipe which may be included in a
      cookbook.

      - Best Seasonal Dessert / Confection - 5pts

      - Best Warm Drink - 4pts
((Will require you to bring a crock pot or something to keep it warm
in unless it is to be served at room temp.))

      - Best Seasonal Side Dish - 3pts

      ---------------------------------------------

As always points will also be awarded for attendance.

Each house will also receive one point for every matching RSVP on the
Yule R.O.C. meetup page. That means if you RSVP "YES" and you show up
then your house gets point. If you RSVP "NO" and you do not show up
then you house gets a point.

Each house will be penalized one point for every non-matching RSVP on
the Yule R.O.C. meetup page. That means if you RSVP "YES" and do NOT
show up your house will lose one point. If you RSVP "NO" and do show
up then your house will lose one point.

In addition, each house will be penalized one point for every member
who does not RSVP on the Yule R.O.C. meetup page.

Any house that does not have at least one member in attendance will
forfeit any points that they might have received.
