- Oct 1 4:48 PMFunny, I tried to make a reservation at the non Con rate this morning at about 9:15 Atlanta time & they told me that the whole hotel was sold out.

Well, it looks like all the con-rate rooms are gone for now, but there are a few options left.
1) Watch the D*C Rooms LJ community and pick up a transfer from someone who ends up bailing on con at a later date. This sucks because it might be well into 2010 before you know for sure what you've got, but I can vouch that it works.
2) Both the M and the Hil have rooms left at the normal (read: 2x) rate. The trick to booking one is to skip the links on the D*C website and just got to the sites via normal means. At least it's a room, but it's highway robbery. Also, the Hil wanted the WHOLE charge up front; at least the M lets you cancel you overpriced reservation up to 24 hours before con, in case you find something better.
3) Hope that, like last year, some of the hotels release a 2nd block of con rate rooms.
4) "Costume" as a 6-man tent and sleep in the lobby.
I ended up doing #2 with the hopes of scoring something cheaper via #1.
