Group Description

Discussion group for those interested in being members of this small cooperative community/Eco-village forming in downstate New York/ NY Metro area. The model that seems the most feasible in this relatively expensive area is to partner with 4-6 other families and individuals to collectively buy land, form land trust, then subdivide the land to be able to privately own our own properties within. A land trust would ensure the properties would always be inhabited by community members. Regular meetings will allow us to meet, get to know each other, explore compatibility and vision with other interested families and members. Next, we will need to create a legal entity to buy and hold property. Research will need to be done into zoning, financing, legal issues before purchasing land. Then, we raise/collect money and buy the land. Building comes next; natural homes will be a shared value and hopefully members can help each other with house-raisings/buildings. Mission: for members/families to live a connected, conscious, self-sustaining life, with the support of other like-minded families. It will be a village run on the concensus model. Co-housing, a residence for singles/individuals, and hopefully a community house for sharing meals and meetings will develop. All individuals/families committed to fully participating in the process and contributing towards the work (financially and organizationally) of making this Ecovillage happen are welcome. Please be able to be actively involved, responsible, financially stable, & committed to conscious, nonviolent communication.
