Group Description

It is with regret to let you know that "dont be afraid bears" group is now CLOSED
I left a note for anyone interested in reading and wish you all the best life has to offer and thank you for your support and help thru our years, we have touched over 3,500 children and i thank you for being part of that with me.
Life indeed does sometimes take you to a dark side, where it can be dark and scarey for an adult let alone an innocent child, so recently...I heard a generous lady with a big heart who does emergency foster care comment that when a child comes in “sometimes they are so afraid… they just want to be held all night” it pierced my heart and put an urgency in me to put my knitting/crocheting to the best use possible. A smile on a hurting childs face, or a hug when they feel so alone, something to hug in a cold dark unfamiliar room.
The National Committee of Grandparents for Children’s Rights will be sponsoring this project and will be distributing our bears made by our generous big hearted members directly to the Child Protection Services case workers as they go to remove one of these precious babies from most likely, the only home they have ever known. They will be given a bear to hold onto at this probably the most scariest and confusing time of their lives to calm their fears and become a trusted sacred friend who listens to all the saddness of their hearts. A woman who has been a foster mom for over 30 years wrote me a note telling me of one of her first foster children whom she has since adopted and how she came with a donated bear and now 28 years later that bear still sits in a place of honor on her dresser.
Will you help me and make a bear or friend with a smile to be the hope and strength for one of these overburdened children.. something no child should ever have to go through..Having a smiling reassuring face I think is the most important aspect of the bears to calm some fears and be able to be held tight.
Thank you.
