I would like to go on record with a public apology to Ray Toms for the way
in which I wrote my last post to this group. I have a robust sense of
humour which sometimes gets the better of me - probably from having spent
too many years in the Services. I have the greatest respect for Ray and it
was not, repeat not my intention to flame him in any way at all. My sole
purpose was to differ with the description of what happens to vapour when it
encounters packing in a column - be it marbles or any other form of
packing. Ray - I hope all is forgiven!

      A much repentant Mike

Mike I am glad we have been able to kiss and make up (metaphorically speaking only of course) I look forward to meeting you and perhaps sharing a bevvy or 2

        Mike
I am glad we have been able to kiss and make up (metaphorically speaking only of
course) I look forward to meeting you and perhaps sharing a bevvy or 2 when you
are down this way. For the record I am prepared to bow to Mike's greater
knowledge of Chemistry and conceed that "slow the passage of the alcohol" was
perhaps not the correct choice of phrase and I certainly never intended to
convey the impression that all the water is condensed out and returned to the
pot which is certainly not the case.
        Ray
