There are 3 German herbal liquors (Kraeuterschnaepsen) at:
      http://www.fegeler.com/likindex.htm
These are worthwhile to translate as there is an interest in this
area. Two of the recipes contain the bittering herbs centaury,
gentian and bitter orange peel. A German style bitters recipe was
      given in msg 5180.

      Recipe 1
      4l alcohol 38%bv
      1kg sugar
      8g cream of tartar
      8g centaury
      15g elecampane
      15g gentian
      24g star anise
      8g aniseed
      100g bitter orange peel

      Recipe 2
      1l rum 38%bv
      4g cloves
      4g cardamon
      100g gentian
      50g orange peel
      6g cinamon
      30g red sandalwood

      Recipe 3
      2l alcohol
      1kg sugar
      peel of one lemon
      2g each of
      chamomile
      oregano
      mint
      sage
      rosemary
      thyme
      basil

The method applies to the all above three -
Macerate in alcohol for 2-4 weeks. Filter. Add sugar. Bottle age.
