      Cadmium is often used for plating. It is described with the following
      adjectives - yellow/gold/iridescent/rainbow.

      Most people will have seen cadmium plated nuts and screws - yellow in
      colour but clearly not brass.

      It is used because it is cheap and effective, but has been banned in
      Europe due to the toxicity of cadmium: It causes cancer, damages your
      kidneys and does a few other wonderful things.

      It is not something you would want the burn, abrade, or include in
      your still. You would need to satisfy yourself that this is not what
      you are dealing with.
