Column height is related to your theoretical plate count, and is significantly dependent upon packing material and method of packing.

The extra length of the horizontal distance from your column to your condenser will not add more than a plate or so, and your HETP of a typical 4ft column will easily be over 1000, so that is negligible.

Your condenser will need to be efficient enough to condense all the vapour generated by your boil, so this is also a negligible factor with regards to the cooling that an extra few inches of horizontal distance would make between your column and condenser.

      I hope this helps.

is there any relation to the horizontal distance from the column to the condenser, related to column height or condenser length?
