I wondered if I should do the same - even though the instructions say it isn't necessary.

The chap I spoke to at Hauraki corner said the same thing... if you want "pure" or tasteless spirit then use stuff that takes a day or two longer to ferment

That was my point - If, after a couple of litres, the water doesn't come off clean, then what do you do?
As an aside, I've noticed that the couple of replies I've had have come directly to me. Thanks for the information, but does "Distillers" etiquette require this, or was it OK to CC the list in this instance?
