Just trying to find the rationale behind suggestions. Basically trying
to find accessible substitutes for DAP and Fermaid K.

Msg 42923 (Harry's Recipe No 666, Note 1) suggests that heating
(boiling) live yeast is sufficient to breakdown the cell walls. This
appears to be the case (http://tinyurl.com/6f4y8x) although
temperature over 45C will destroy enzymes so you do not get autolysis
of the cell contents. But do we need to?
Boiling to make an inactive hydrolysed yeast is possibly sufficient
(?) to make a replacement for Fermaid K which is basically an inactive
yeast product. The soluble complete plant fertilizer would provide the
      other components.
