Yeah, I think somebody created the word from permeate and evaporate.
It sounds like a molecule-sized filter.
I've read that it could work for weak alcohol mixtures like you'd get
from cellulose conversion and would save the energy of distillation.
But, all the papers I can find say that generally the alcohol is
distilled first and the hot vapor is sent to the membrane (filter). I
don't see much energy savings.
