      Hi Derek
usually one run through is plenty for rum, if you do a slow run with no scrubbers you will get a very nice flavoured rum.
If on the other hand you do two runs you will lose a good deal of the flavour.
      Hope this helps.

      Subject: [Distillers] Rum from Molasses

I'm planning a rum wash. I have some mollasses and am ready to start the
wash. But, a little advice would help me here.
My mollasses (13.5 kg) is rated at 42% sugar. So, am I correct that
irrespective of other things which might contribute to the sg I actually have:
      13.5kg. x 2.2 x .42 = 12.47 lbs. sugar.?
If this is an accurate place to start, I can do the rest of the calcs.
myself in terms of how much water etc. to produce the desired fermentable sg.
Up until now all my distillations have been with a reflux still with a
packed column. I'd like to unpack the column and do two runs as a pot
still (shorter column) this time to get a feel for the experience and get
some flavour through into the rum.
      Any advice greatly appreciated.
