Group Description

Expulsion of ethnic Germans after World War 2.

The ethnic cleansing of Germans after World War 2 refers to the mass deportation of people considered Germans from the eastern Soviet-occupied zone of Germany, and is the main part of German ethnic cleansing from eastern Germany after World War 2. Central Germany was to become its new east. The ethnic cleansing, intended for new forced border changes, was decided by the Allies at the Potsdam Conference. Although the Potsdam Conference ordained ordered transfer, the whole process of resettlement was performed in a postwar atmosphere of chaos, frequent excesses and murder. According to Soviet sources, there were approx 2+ million people killed during the explusion. German citizens remaining after the war, some of whom had become German citizens during the war, and people considered ethnic Germans were expelled from historical eastern Germany, Sudetenland, parts of Hungary, and Romania . Many fled in fear of the Soviet Red Army. Some were persecuted because of their activites during the war; the clear majority however were persecuted solely because of their German ethnicity.

This forum is a reminder to the English speaking world of another part of WW2 history so often deliberately left out of educational curriculum by most Allied historians who always insist on their biased version of recorded events of WW2.
