      MOTOWN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SPECIAL REPORT

The Funk Brothers Will Be Getting Star On The Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Funk Brothers who have been identified as certain musicians in the movie Standing In The Shadows Of Motown are finally being inducted for the famed Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Musicians that performed for virtually over 13,000 or more Motown hits, the Funk brothers collectively have played on more hits than any studio musician’s in the world. The Funk Brothers have received three Grammy awards:

      • Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004
      • Best Traditional R&B Performance for "What's Going On" with Chaka Khan, 2002
      • Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media for Standing in the Shadows of Motown, 2002.

Even though the producers made about $100,000 each, the musicians were in the movie based on their history, and 3 Grammys for the movie, they barely made more than $10,000 each for the film, and the widows and families made even less. The musicians need donations to get to the Hollywood event!
