Detroit Police Commission Chairwoman Megan Norris was robbed at
gunpoint Tuesday evening while walking home from her downtown law
      office.

Norris said she was at Jefferson and the foot of the bridge to Belle
Isle at 9 p.m. when a man came up behind her and told her ``you're
      going to drop that purse.''

Norris said she looked at the man and he showed her a handgun. She
told him she was with the police and he motioned with the gun in his
right hand for her to give up the purse.

``I dropped my purse,'' she said.

Norris said she spent this morning canceling credit cards and working
on a composite sketch for Detroit Police, who said they are
      investigating.

``He's already run my credit cards all over town,'' Norris said,
adding that police told her the suspect used a card six times at one
      gas station.

She's hoping the suspect's spending binge will lead to his capture.

She lives in Indian Village and often walks to and from work for
      exercise.
