Orienteering at Bear Creek Lake Park

This is a great opportunity to try orienteering and practice
your navigation skills. It's cheap, $5 for beginners, and mostly
What is orienteering? It's finding your way to a series of
control points using a map, compass, and your wits. Most of them
are done on foot. There will be several different courses
available of different lengths and navigational difficulty.
There will also be a bike orienteering course. Instructions and
loaner compasses are available at registration.
Registration starts at 9:30am. Start times begin at 10 and
continue until 2pm, with the course closing at 4pm. People start
at different times so you can't follow anyone else.
You can try more than one course, and do it individually or as a
Take C-470 to Morrison Rd. Go east about 1/2 mile, then turn
right into the park. It costs $3 per car to enter the park. Once
inside the park, follow the signs to the registration.
If you want to save the $3, you can park in the dirt lot by the
Conoco station, where we are meeting for the Thursday night run,
and ride into the park.
