Group Description

The Prom ™ is the puerile, yet brilliant brainchild of Denver, Colorado socialite Darin Barry and guy from South Carolina, Chris Jones who saw a need for high school style proms for adults. One night, while enjoying coffee at St. Marks Coffee House, Darin said to Chris, “Lets’ have a prom”. Chris said, “O.K”, then “Who shall we invite?” to witch Darin responded, “Any non-incarcerated adult who wants to come.” Thus, this springs theme was also born, “You can come if you want to.”

The Prom ™ will also soon be a fun, hip, clever, highly original way for non-profits to raise funds while promoting night clubs and restaurants with sagging business receipts. We hope to work closely with local business chambers and non-profit coalitions.

But for now, The Prom ™ is going to be a completely geeky visit back to our high school years for no other reason than to have a prom. It’s tentatively planned for May 6th and will be a no-host dinner at a local restaurant, then Dancing at one of the nightclubs in Denver. Retro prom attire is encouraged. Guys, get up the nerve to ask that pretty girl out, then find that bad baby blue tux with ruffles that’s somewhere near the bowling ball you don’t have, and girls, get up the nerve to ask that suave, handsome guy of your choice to the prom and get out the ugliest brides maid dress you can find or rescue one from a thrift shop. There will be photos, a hosted promenade, and everyone gets to be king and queen at our prom. Dance to Soft Cell, Nirvana, Men Without Hats, Bobby Darin and Sinatra! Corsages and boutonnières will be provided at very reasonable costs. E-mail Darin at Darin@ababyatemydingo.com
