There are no attempts to date any biological over 50KY BP given the half-life of the carbon isotope. That's where other isotopes come in.

      It seems to me that gamma rays from radioactive decay, even deep in the ground, could produce the same kind of spallation of nitrogen that we see cosmic rays

      Leon: Gleaned from my archive of posts on radiometric dating 1.. Carbon -14 should only be used on organic materials less than 40,000 years old. 2.. C-14 works
