18946Calling all CI students in 5th-12th grade and their parents! *CI Connect* weekend is happening at ISD April 11-13, 2014!
- Jan 14, 2014
Do you know a cochlear implant student in 5th-12th grade? We have a WONDERFUL opportunity for them to learn more about their device(s), socialize with other CI students as well as participate in educational sessions and hands-on activities to help them reach their hearing potential.
This weekend is geared towards students AND their parents so that they can learn TOGETHER!
Families will stay in the dorms on the ISD campus for FREE. They are responsible for their own transportation to ISD.
Attached is a schedule for the weekend. We have great fun planned!
Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch and Sunday breakfast are provided. They will be on their own for dinner Saturday night.
There will be sessions conducted by Tina Childress (ISD CI Outreach Specialist and bilateral CI recipient), ISD social work staff as well as representatives from all three cochlear implant manufacturers.
Down time and activities will be happening on Friday night as well as Saturday afternoon/evening.
There will be a unique opportunity to participate in a research study conducted by Dr. Derek Stiles of Rush University looking at Lipreading and Working Memory on Saturday afternoon/evening. Participation is OPTIONAL. Attached is a flyer about this study.
Please spread the word! Deadline to register is March 15, 2014 and the registration link is at http://bit.ly/ISDOutreachEvents Please fill out the form for each CI student attending (if there is more than one student/family).
If you have any questions, please contact me at Tina.Childress@... or 217/278-3550. Thanks so much!
