Group Description

We are a group of people living in or near Dubuque, Iowa. Our interest is to promote nonviolent responses and initiatives. We welcome others with similar interests to join us in this work.

Since shortly after September 11, 2001, and until mid-May 2003, we conducted a weekly peace vigil at Washington Park across from the Post Office in downtown Dubuque. The vigil became daily during the first few months of the Iraq War, and then continued as a weekly event. THE VIGIL CONTINUES AT THE SAME LOCATION, FROM 4 TO 5 PM EACH MONDAY.

Dubuque Peace and Justice occasionally sponsors speakers, rallies, and other community events in Dubuque. You'll learn about these events by e-mail on the list-serv. In addition, many of same people who have been active with DbqPeace have also been advocating for the closure of the School of the Americas in Fort Benning, Georgia. You might wish to join that list as well, by using the related link on this page for DbqSOAW.
