RE: [DVDongle] DV Dongle
There’s absolutely no need to provide an additional designator for a DVDongle. Just use your callsign.
DVAP is a slightly different situation and only then is a different designator needed if you want to make sure that someone doesn’t call sign route to your DVAP
In, general, there really is no need for users to have more than one terminal. I’ve got a number of radios, DVAP, DVDongle and 1 terminal works absolutely great. Never desired not needed multiple designators.
If you have 2 or more ID-1’s then that’s a horse of a different color and the only NEED for multiple terminals.
You have to register in the Dstar with your callsign. If you have a different DSAt Radio, on the first line put your call sign, on the second line put your callsign and a letter A to confirm that you are using a dongle.
I hope that this will help.

Subject: [DVDongle] DV Dongle
I purchased a used Dongle. Everything is ok except for one thing.
It will not transmit with my callsign only the former owners?
What has to be changed? Is it changeable?

used to work my DV Dongle on my Toshiba latop with Windows 8. Have a new laptop, a Toshiba with Windows 8. I plan to download Windows 8. I downloaded the drivers and the newest version of DVTools. However no joy. No blinking light. Nothing. Does Windows 8 preclude the use of the DV Dongle?? Help.
