- Aug 31Glad you managed. I just saw this post, it was in my spam folder for some reason. I was at VGC for 4 nights, then 3 nights at Paradise Pier during the Expo. I always walk back and forth to the Convention Center, it is not that far.I did my usual arrive at Expo between 3-6 am. I like being inside and find the line in there better for me than being outside. I go all 3 days, all day, and still miss so much! I went to 5 panels, which takes up most of my time. Also did some shopping this time, and walked the floor of course.I did Agents of Shield panel (I loved it! I watch this show and panel was great. Wish I had been able to see the Disney+ panel, but they were the same time). Saturday did the big Live Action/Animation panel and another one with Imagineers in the afternoon (including Joe Rhode). Was in Expo until 7:30 that night, in a store. Sunday saw Parks and another panel, women of SWGE. It is interesting on the lines to discuss various panels that I missed, so I can choose well next time.I loved seeing Batuu at DL first, where it is just a normal thing there now, not a crazy place. Saw the fireworks over Batuu (unique to DL) the first night. Did the World of Color dessert party, highly recommend if you want seats for the show. (PS arrive much earlier than they tell you). I have been to DL many times and I love it.Pat Mc-----Original Message-----

Subject: [DVCBoards] D23 Expo 8/22-8/24 DL
So.......about November of last year a GrD asked me about going with her to the D23 Expo at Disneyland
and I thought "sure"....So plans were made.We decided to go on Thursday as the event started on Friday and we wanted to be all set and ready to go.So, after an uneventful flight in on Thursday, arriving at the hotel by 10:30am, we were ready to hit the MK for the day with another friend from here in Florida. She had arrived on Wednesday so she was already set. We had adjoining rooms so just took our things up to her room and by the time we were ready to leave for the MK our room was ready. NICE!!!We spent the day in the MK and then watched Fantasmic and the Fireworks. As an aside.......This year they were offering a "fast" pass to some of the events as well as for shopping etc....We were told to get on line at Noon EST, so 3 our time in FL.That got changed to 3 and then to the next day, again at noon.Unfortunately, I was not able to get more than one thing as all were filled up.The screen on the "que" showed a little man running to the right of the screen showing the progress. After 1 hour and 40 minuted things were all gone. It was interesting to see lots of tee shirts at the event showing that screen along with the words, "the little man failed me....." So True...Anyway, before the event, I was able to get lots of useful information from Pat, of our group about how things are done and by getting that information, I was more prepared than if I had just arrived unprepared. One of my big concerns was the distance from the hotel to the convention center as we were told it was about 1 1/2 miles. IT WAS!!So...here's what we did..Friday we went over at 9:30 and stood outside along a roadway waiting to get in. It was about 55 minutes in line and by the time we were at the bag check there was no line at all.The place is HUGE!!! Lots to see and do and never enough time. The stores were absolutely packed with people all over in lines and sitting in lines. We were able to purchase a few things from vendors but not the Disney stores since the waits were literally hours.Saturday, we went over at 9. We did get into the Mousequrade show and had great seats. The costumes were really cool and some, not so much...but still fun to see. The winner of the $2300.00 cash prize had a 3 layer dress that had the entire Haunted Mansion depicted...even lit chandeliers. She said it was 3 years of work. Amazing! While were were there and also walking around, my GrD went to the Disney Store and sat for 3 hours and got both of the 30th Anniversary dolls of Ariel and UrsulaWe left about 4 and went to the CA and took in the Frozen production and then dinner at the Vineyard. Then the World of Color show and back to the hotel. Wind was blowing my way so got a bit wet.Sunday we were up early and off by 8 and again, waited about an hour to get in. We went right into the Gold pass line for the Little Mermaid 30th presentation. That was really fun for me and my GrD loved it.Then off to see a few things we hadn't looked at before and then back to the hotel and then over to the MK.This time we walked through for the second time, the new Star Wars area, and stayed for the Electrical Parade..Observations:.The Expo was greatCrowded but manageableLots to see and do.Star Wars Land was IncredibleHuge areaVery authenticCrowded but manageable.Disneyland HotelAdventure TowerGreat location overlooking DTD.Over all a great trip and again, Thanks Pat for allthe pre-information, and the pass. My GrDWas thrilled to get it. I used a c/m pass plusMy 2 day....Jodi - << Previous post in topic
