194202/12 - Court appearance forNYPD's Muslim spying lawsuit

There is a hearing scheduled in Raza v. City of New York lawsuit for this Wednesday, Feb 12th at 12:30pm at 255 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn.The lawsuit is on behalf of multiple plaintiff from the Muslim community who were spied upon (or feared being spied upon), and subsequently "chilled" / limited their free speech activities.Magistrate Judge Joan Azrack will be hearing arguments about the scope and nature of the Protective Order on the documents that NYPD was required to turn over. A Protective Order is the court order that will govern how evidence is to be handled during the course of the litigation. Specifically, the City is making a number of arguments aiming to severely limit the legal team's ability to review documents that the police will hand over as evidence during the litigation.
