People who feel badly about themselves are more likely to fall into
alcohol or other drug abuse than those confronted with feelings of guilt.
Menthol Smokers May Have Greater Cancer Risk
Researchers pondering the higher cancer rate among black smokers -- who
tend to smoke fewer cigarettes than whites -- say that a preference for
menthol cigarettes may be the cause.
Study: Growing Up with Smokers Leads to Respiratory Problems
A study of 35,000 adult nonsmokers found that those who grew up in
households with smokers were more likely to have respiratory problems,
although those who ate more fruit and soy fiber as adults seemed to get
some protection from lung problems.
Feds Launch Meth Website, Raids
The U.S. Justice Department has unveiled a new website designed to
discourage teen methamphetamine use, even as federal agents made 400
meth-related arrests nationwide.
U.K. Docs Say 24-Hour Drinking Will Hurt Teens
A plan by the British government to allow bars to stay open around the
clock is being slammed by prominent physicians, who warn of future
health problems for young drinkers.
