WANTED LARGE, OLDER MALE
It is great to see folks spread the word about animals (young and old) in need of a home. Ralph was 12 (and Aldo was 10) when adopted by my friend Judy, and he had one beautiful loving year with her. Both previously had parents who had strokes, and each had a difficult time finding a new home. Fortunately, Judy found them just in time. She'll be looking for a new companion for Aldo soon. If you know of a large, older gentleman in need of a home, I could pass the info on to her. ---Laura Rainey
RADIO SHOW TO SPOTLIGHT RESCUE AND HUMANE GROUPS
During the 17 years of hosting "The Pet Show with Warren Eckstein" on Los Angeles radio, I've often thought it would be great to have a sponsored weekly feature that spotlights local rescue and humane group happenings. These are Southern California's hardest-working volunteers...often too busy saving animals to shine a light on their never-ending struggle to raise funds to save more. I'm delighted to announce that starting on "The Pet Show" Saturday, March 5th on KRLA 870AM between 11A-1P, that new feature will begin. Our email address is on the website www.thepetshow.com
TEACH CHILDREN SAFE INTERACTTION WITH DOGS
I HAVE been encountering more and more families when I am out and about with my dogs, and I have been amazed at how many children do not know how to behave when they encounter a strange dog.

RE: PIT BULL EXPERT
The pit bull expert is Tia Maria Torres at Villalobos Rescue Center She does private training as well as giving a free 8-week pitbull training class. Also, you can get a referral from Seal Beach Animal Care Center sbacc.org as they work with a few experts.
RE: PIT BULL EXPERT
Hi, Just responding to the person looking for a Pit Bull Expert. Cesar Millan is amazing (he is also the person on the National Geographic Channel show the Dog Whisperer). We adopted our Pit Bull after he was in foster care with Cesar and have had great results. www.dogpsychologycenter.com
RE: PIT BULL EXPERTS
In Long Beach there's my friend Leri Hanson. See her website at http://www.ca-k9services.com/ . Click on "Contact" for her email address and phone number. (My favorite quote: "Pit Bulls are my life.") If for some reason you don't reach her right away, you might try Tia Maria (Torres) Cardello in Canyon Country. http://www.vrcpitbull.com/ . They have somewhat different orientations regarding the breed. Leri is a responsible breeder and an experienced professional trainer of well bred dogs, APBT's being her favorite. Tia Maria focuses on rescuing the most abused and neglected of the breed. (Needless to say, her resources are always strained to the limit and beyond; she can save only a comparative handful, while thousands are euthanized each year in L.A. County.) ---Dave Morefield

I have a dog I'd like to adopt out. We're moving to another state and will be traveling - would prefer to find a home for the dog rather than leave him in kennels for extended times. Picture attached. He's 11 years old - mixture of Schipperke and Corgi - 21 lbs. We'd love to talk with Monica - 562-433-5244.

"A VERY INEPT GUY WHO SAID IF THE OWNERS DIDN'T COME FOR HIM, THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE"
Hi Justin, On March 25 a very scared dog with no tags was hiding in my flower bed in my front yard. After spending the night there, I eventually coaxed him in. I have 2 friendly dogs of my own. When I called the SPCA, they sent a very inept guy who said if the owners didn't come for him, they couldn't guarantee that I could get him back. If they deemed him un adoptable, I might not even be able to adopt him and he could be put to sleep. I decided not to turn him over to the stupid dog catcher. He's very scared and traumatized by whatever he went through. But after playing with him and taking him for walks he's come out of his shell. He's so sweet and smart. He seems to have had some training.
So for the moment he's in a foster home with me. I'm a single person with 2 dogs already. I just can't handle 3 by myself. I'm putting up signs and put an ad in the press telegram. So far no calls. He's a Shepherd mix, probably under 2 years old and neutered. ---Marla Fidman

MY BARK IS WORSE THAN MY (UNDER) BITE
A poem about Rosie the Bulldog by her daddy, Justin Rudd!
Rosie the Bulldog
Is here to keep guard
I'm the protector and defender
For the house and the yard.
I'll bark for a treat
I'll bark for a ball
I'm a big barkin' package
I'm plus-sized, not small.
Barking at skateboards
Barking at trucks
Barking at postmen
They all drive me nuts
I like to bark big time
When I hear a loud noise
I like to speak and growl
When I can't reach my toys.
That's what I like
That's what I do
If my water dish is empty
Boy, I'm in a stew.
The louder I bark
The more they will hear
The bigger my sound
The more they will fear
I like to be loud
I like to sound mean
But deep down inside
I'm Rosie the Queen.
