HAUTE DOGS and Justin Rudd! are sponsoring the 3rd annual handmade Valentine's card contest for Long Beach-area students (K-12) to create loveable Valentine's cards for the 120+ dogs and 50+ cats housed at the Long Beach Animal Care Services shelter.Hundreds of cards were submitted last year. We encourage classrooms, scout groups, church youth groups, and other organizations to create cards for the animals." Cards should be received at Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St. (MAP) Long Beach, CA 90808, on or before noon on Sun., Feb. 12. Students should place their name, grade level, teacher's name and school name on the very back of the card. Cards will not be returned.
WIN A PIZZA PARTY! The student who crates the winning card will receive a pizza party for their friends, classroom or group (up to 30 people). Judging will take into consideration the grade level of the student, and will be based on creativity, originality, and first impression. The folded cards should not exceed 5x7, and should not include any particular animal's name. Volunteers will randomly assign a card to an animal's kennel. The goal is to get at least one card per animal that will be attached to each pet's kennel through the Valentine's Day week.

MORE THAN 50 couples are expected to attend the sixth annual Long Beach Father/Daughter Dance hosted by Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (C.A.T.).
The dance will take place Sun., Feb. 12, 2012, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the expansive, carpeted community hall of Bay Shore Church on The Toledo (@ Nieto Ave.) in Belmont Shore. Rudd says more than $1,500 is expected to be raised from ticket sales for C.A.T.
IT WILL BE a special, area-wide, semi-formal evening for fathers and daughters of all ages. The evening was complete with decorations, old-fashioned refreshments, wholesome music, girls in dresses, dads in ties, fathers giving corsages, and daughters learning how a gentleman treats a lady -- all to benefit great environmental, youth and animal welfare programs in our area.
Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (CAT) host this annual Bee in Long Beach, Calif. The 11th annual Bee will be held March 4, 2012, and students in grades 3-5 are welcome. Grand prize is one thousand dollars!

Any student in grades 3-5 may compete. Home-schooled students may also compete. There is no study guide for this bee. All words in the dictionary are fair game. Spellers do not have to be endorsed or entered b...y their school. There is no limit to the number of students from a school. February is American Heart Month, and this "Red High Heels Walk" will raise money to help fund heart health programs in Long Beach. The 2012 Red High Heels Walk will take place on Sat., Feb. 18, noon. Start/finish at La Strada restaurant on 2nd St.
Justin Rudd's nonprofit Community Action Team (C.A.T.) will donate $10 to local heart health programs (up to $5,000) for each person that walks the 1-mile roundtrip route down the 2nd Street sidewalks in Belmont Shore in red high heels, and $5 if a participant is wearing red non-heels (flats, loafers, athletic shoes, sandals, etc.).
There is no charge to participate, and no fundraising is required.
Feel free to use red spraypaint or red tape on a pair of shoes. Men, women and youth welcome.
A lunch buffet for participants is available at La Strada, 4716 E. 2nd St., for just $6 following the Walk. RSVP to Justin@....
