Wanted to share two upcoming events:

      NoVA Outside Green Schools Expo

      Saturday, March 3

      10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

      George Mason University

Student Union Building II (The Hub)

      4400 University Drive

      Fairfax, VA 22030

      Help your school go green!

Join environmental and outdoor educators from Northern Virginia to view local schools showcasing their green school projects and investigate resources to help your school go green.

Resources include nonprofit organizations, local park and nature centers, and government agencies.

The Expo offers an exciting opportunity for teachers, students and parent leaders to showcase their "green" projects, to learn from other schools, and to meet organizations that provide resources for "green" projects. Informational and networking opportunities will be provided throughout the morning. Andrea Falken, US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools Program, will open the Expo.

Presentation 3/15 on Navigating Public Schools as a Holistic Family -- HMN Arl/Alex

Interested in the efforts the local public schools take to be environmentally friendly?

Want to hear about school gardening programs, farm-to-table initiatives, and nutrition policies?
Interested in how much outdoor learning is offered in public schools today?

Curious to hear about the experiences of other holistic moms with children in public schools or interested in sharing your own experiences?

Please join the Arlington/Alexandria Chapter of Holistic Moms Network on Thursday, March 15 for its monthly meeting, where speakers from Arlington and Fairfax Counties and Alexandria City will lead an interactive discussion.

Elaine Tholen, Environmental Educator for Fairfax County and co-founder of NoVA Outside

Wendy Sparrow, Schoolyard Gardening Coordinator for Alexandria

Katherine Sumner, Alexandria parent and founder of Nourish Schools

Miriam Gennari, Arlington parent and member of APS Sustainability Committee

Holistic Moms Network Arlington/Alexandria Chapter March Meeting
      Date: Thursday, March 15, 2012
Time: 6:45-9 p.m. **Note: Please plan to arrive no later than 6:45 for this meeting, as given our many speakers, we will begin the discussion promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Location: 716 S. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA, 22204 (in Arlington United Methodist Church)

HMN meetings are open to members and first-time visitors. Come see what we're about!

Children are always welcome, although this one might have less room for play. Partners are welcome to attend this meeting with members.

(RSVPs are helpful but not required. jessicahmnarlalex (at) gmail (dot) com.)

Holistic Moms Network is not affiliated with any church. However, we do appreciate the generosity of AUMC in hosting our meetings and encourage members and visitors to bring donations of non-perishable food for the church's food pantry, which serves the homeless population in Arlington. There is a special need for canned soup right now.

Directions: AUMC is on S. Glebe between S. 7th and S. 8th St., a few blocks north of Columbia Pike, on the west side of the street. Enter the church parking lot from S. Glebe or from S. 7th St. where there is a traffic light (on the north side of church).

      Upcoming evening meetings:

April 19: Ayurveda with Whitney Paterson of Apurva Wellness

May 17: Optimal Dental Facial Development for Children with Dr. Felix Liao of Whole Health Dental Center
