Group Description

The activities of the Federation of Citizens Associations of the District of Columbia involve issues of neighborhood-specific as well as District-wide interest, and may include testifying on behalf of the Federation before local agencies, at the Council of the District of Columbia, and before the Congress of the United States.

The Federation also serves as liaison with legislative staff members on matters important to District citizens, and engages in litigation when necessary. It also works in concert with other citizen and civic organizations to accomplish specific goals.

Membership in the Federation is available to any citizens, civic, or other community association that includes within its purposes the advancement of its community’s interest and those of the people of the District of Columbia.

The Federation holds regular monthly meetings at the historic Charles Sumner School and Archives (pictured at right), located at 17th & M Streets NW.
