Subject: [elderthinktank] Discussion Group Invite Amended to pass on
SAGE Metro-DC is conducting a discussion group of LGBT community members 55 years and older in September, led by a professional facilitator. We would like you to consider joining in on the event. The discussion is closed to the public and refreshments will be served.
You will be asked questions like:
· What unique life experiences do you have as a GLBT elder?
· What do you think are the top five needs for LGBT elders in the region.?
· What services/organizati ons in the region do you think are LGBT elder positive or negative?
· What kinds of changes are needed within the GLBT community itself to better support the needs of its elders?
Sunday, September 12th, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, The Residences at Thomas Circle
1330 Massachusetts Ave, NW
Washington , DC 20005
Discussion Group Mix
We are trying to put together an intentionally diverse group of elders, a cross section of the GLBT elders of the Metro-Region. We hope to have 30 people volunteer to participate in the group. This is a one time event, not an ongoing group or organization.
Ø We are striving to have the group composed equally of men and women over 55.
Ø We hope to also have a wide diversity in terms of age from 55 to 100 yrs
(if anyone volunteers who is over 100 they are very welcome)
Ø We want to be sure to have a good balance of folks from DC, Virginia and Maryland .
Ø We expect to have gay men and lesbians, bisexuals, as well as gay, lesbian and bi trans folks.
Ø And, most importantly, we want to have a diverse mix representing the numerous racial and ethnic communities in our region.
Oh yes, we expect to have Democrats, Republicans, Independents and folks who could care less! (lol)
Please send names of people who are interested to me at the email below…thanks!!
